Soalnya banyak sekali penuggang motor bebek di jalanan (termasuk gue sendiri) memindah gigi dengan sangat kasar disadari ataupun tidak.<br />

Pada motor bebek yang tanpa kopling tangan tuh sebenarnya pada tuas persnelingnya selain untuk memindah gigi juga sebagai tuas kopling agar motor lebih halus saat pindah gigi.<br />

Bisa dibilang keadaan busi mencerminkan kondisi mesin sepeda motor kita. Caranya, cukup buka <b>busi</b> pakai kunci busi kemudian amati saja.<br />
<br />
Ciri-ciri pada motor 4 tak jika pembakaran normal, maka hasilnya busi akan berwarna abu-abu merata atau merah bata dari ujung elektroda sampai selongsong busi.<br />
<br />
Namun, bagaimana jika kondisi mesin tidak normal? Begini cara mengetahuinya:<br />

<ol><li><b>Ujung busi terlihat abu-abu muda,</b> menandakan campuran bensin-udara terlalu miskin.</li>
<li><b>Elektroda gelap/hitam pekat</b>, berarti campuran bensin dan udara terlalu kaya. Kebanyakan dikarenakan settingan karbu kurang baik.</li>
<li><b>Ujung busi mengkilap</b>, bisa terjadi karena salah memilih tipe busi sehingga ada sisa bensin tidak terbakar. Terjadi karena jarum skep busi nggak pas atau busi kurang dingin.</li>
<li><b>Ujung busi kena oli basah</b>, kelihatan hitam pekat dan basah dikarenakan oli ikut terbakar saat busi mematik. hal ini menandakan oli mesin ikut terbakar di ruang bakar. Bisa dikarenakan ring piston oblak, bos klep bocor, atau kapasitas oli mesin terlampau banyak. Namun pada motor 2tak biasanya disebabkan karena campuran oli mesin terlampau banyak.</li>
<li><b>Ujung elektroda tertutup kerak</b>, disebabkan karena kualitas bahan bakar jelek ( terkontaminasi atau campur kotoran), sudut pengapian terlalu maju sampai karena salah busi.</li>
<li><b>Ujung busi penuh bulu putih</b>, disebabkan karena cairan radiator bocor dan ikut terbakar.</li>
<li><b>Cacat di ujung busi</b>, kerusakan fisik di busi akibat detonasi(nglitik) seperti ground elektroda tertekuk atau ada goresan di ujung elektroda. Disebabkan karena kualitas bahan bakar jelek atau jarak elektroda (plug gap) terlampau jauh.</li>
<li><b>Elektroda busi meleleh</b>, disebabkan busi menyala sebelum waktunya (pre-ignition). Diakibatkan kemungkinan karena oktan bensin terlalu rendah, derajat pengapian terlalu maju sampai mesin mengalami overheat.</li>
<li><b>Ujung elektroda busi rata dengan keramik,</b> berarti memang sudah harus diganti. Elektroda busi berfungsi memercikkan bunga api, sudah pasti lama-kelamaan akan semakin tumpul. Kalau sudah rata dengan keramik berarti jam terbang busi sudah sangat tinggi dan waktunya untuk ganti yang baru.</li>
</ol>Kalau sudah tahu penyebabnya, buruan ditangani sebelum tambah nyusahin.<br />

Padahal, settingan karburator sudah standar-dar. Kenapa ya...?<br />

Yang bikin busi cepat mati biasanya adalah karena bensin kelewat boros atau karena overheat akibat minimnya gas bakar. Walaupun karburator sudah disetel standar dan sedemikian rupa, namun busi selalu saja cepat mati.<br />
<br />
Kalau ini terjadi, maka kemungkinan besar disebabkan oleh kebocoran di seputar bibir payung klep masuk atau buang. Hal ini mengakibatkan campuran bensin dan udara menjadi tak ideal. keadaan ini yang bikin elektroda busi sulit mematik gas bakar. Hasilnya, motor jadi kehilangan tenaga karena kompresi/tekanan bocor.<br />

Selain itu, kondisi klep masuk dan buang juga biasanya bikin sepeda motor kita sulit dihidupkan. Kalaupun mau hidup, biasanya karburator susah diset normal dan sering timbul suara ledakan di mulut <i>knalpot</i>. Kalau dianalisa, busi mati diakibatkan oleh <i>klep in</i> (masuk) bocor karena ada gas bakar yang tidak terbakar kembali tertekan keluar ke arah mulut karbu di awal starter kemudian malah bikin basah busi, payung klep, dan komponen sekitarnya (bensin banjir).<br />
<br />
Kebalikannya kalau yang bocor di <i>klep out</i>(keluar), kebocoran kompresi bikin mesin cepat panas hingga <i>overheat</i> dan biasanya diikuti oleh timbulnya ledakan-ledakan di moncong knalpot.<br />

Bagaimana cara untuk mengenali kalau klep bocor?<br />
<br />
Yang paling mudah adalah, kita bisa liat dari kondisi elektroda busi. Ciri-cirinya, kalau elektroda busi terlihat hitam basah dan bau bensin walaupun karburator sudah disetel sedemikian rupa, maka kemungkinan <i>klep in bocor</i>. Kalau elektroda busi terlihat kering dan berwarna keputihan serta panas mesin sangat tinggi padahal belum lama dihidupkan maka kemungkinan <i>klep out bocor</i>.<br />

Jadi bukan cuma satu dua kali aku mengalami ban bocor di jalan. He..he...he.... Dari yang cuma ketusuk paku udah beberapa kali, ban dalam terlipat lalu sobek, sampai ban meledak luar dalam.<br />
Tentunya bukan aku bangga mengalami beberapa kali ban bocor. Tapi karena hal itu kini menjadi pelajaran berharga buatku. Yaitu, sedia ban dalam sebelum bocor. Untuk mengantisipasi apabila ban bocor parah (robek) dan kebetulan tukang tambal ban nggak punya ban dalam yang sesuai untuk sepeda motor kita. Apalagi buat yang sering melakukan perjalanan jauh seperti aku. Terutama jika motor kita menggunakan ban yang berbeda dengan yang ada di pasaran. <br />

Tukang tambal ban bahkan toko onderdil juga terkadang kehabisan stok ban yang sesuai. Contohnya, misalnya ban motor matic yang nggak semua tukang tambal ban pinggir jalan nyediain atau buat pembesut MoGe yang bannya super gede (tentunya yang masih pakai ban dalam), biasanya moge pakai ban tubeless.<br />
Mending antisipasi kan... dari pada apes udah ban dalam robek, dorong sepeda motor untuk menemukan tukang tambal ban, eh... si abang tukang tambal ban nggak punya ban pengganti. oh no....<br />
